Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
Few of the many doctors and individuals who make claims they suffer from or can diagnose multiple chemical sensitivity present a common definition or causality but in a nutshell the claim is that the human body becomes so overloaded by exposure to chemicals in the environment that subsequent exposure to even small amounts of chemicals can cause severe reactions. There is no reliable scientific evidence that supports MCS claims and like similar diseases and syndromes, MCS appears to be largely psychological -- an extreme form of hypochondria reinforced by the doctor's who diagnose MCS. The links below provide information which refutes some of the common claims and points out the numerous fallacies and errors MCS advocates labor under. The American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology's statement is especially lucid.
